In Indore, a home clad in yellow stone stands out from the crowd
Called the Yellow Stone House, Span Architects’ latest project in Indore has a facade clad in the golden material. “The entire elevation has a few vertical surfaces of walls that incline at angles taking it away from the two-dimensional world of drawing. This in turn helps to capture a sensation of movement over in a static state,” Arpit Khandelwal, the co-founder at the architectural firm says. The structure, almost frozen in movement embraces the concept of light and ventilation with large openings, transparent surfaces, and shadow play.

Aarambh by ClayScape Architects is a retired Army couple’s dream abode that marries vernacular wisdom with contemporary sensibilities
Growing up in a cantonment, I had many friends whose fathers served in the Indian Army. Visiting their homes was like a lesson in history and our country’s rich cultural heritage. Each home carried a memorabilia from different cities, different postings, different chapters of life: a brass figurine from Rajasthan, textiles from the Northeast, pottery from Gujarat and so on. These families carried a potpourri of cultures with them wherever they went, and I often wondered—what would their forever home look like?
